Birdie Turns One!! My own Motherhood Photos in Athens, Ohio

taking the time to share some updated photos of myself! hi!! this is me, megan springer, with two of my five children. if you have worked with me you have probably seen these two girls tagging along; birdie comes to all of my sessions with me and has since she was born (i am not quite ready to tackle my separation anxiety), and hattie is my number one assistant, always looking for an opportunity to take her own photos or be part of the creative process. we took these images collaboratively, with help from my husband, too. hattie had her first lesson in editing with this batch of photos, it was fun to see her own interpretations come through. i might have to sneak in a few of her versions, but these were all edited by me. the whole process was so playful and fun. we dolled ourselves up, embraced the heat, and moseyed down our quiet county road in athens, ohio. letting the appalachain foothills do their thing taking in golden hour out in the middle of an old soybean field. i am thankful for the experience of completely focused and intentional time with my girls and i hope that the rest of you feel the same when we work together. you walk away with a double bonus- an excuse to spend quality time together and come out with beautiful, interactive and thoughtful images.

here are some of hattie’s edits just for fun! she picked the images on her own and edited them to her liking. she has spent the past couple of years learning about how to use her camera. i am impressed with her ability to shoot in manual mode and have the basic concepts of how to tweak her settings in camera. this was her first experience ever using lightroom. she learned all about how i create my own presets, exposure and white balance, and color grading. she is so innately creative with such an origional pov i cannot wait to see if its something she wants to nourish as she continues to grow.
